Terms of service
Last updated 1 October 2026. Draft, pending legal review.
These terms cover the CodeBetter services offered at codebetter.ai, provided by Balazs Harcsa, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. “We” and “us” mean CodeBetter.
1. Acceptance
By requesting a scan, purchasing a Fix Sprint, or subscribing to Watch, you agree to these terms. If you are agreeing on behalf of a company, you confirm you have the authority to do so.
Our services are offered to businesses, for use in a trade, business or profession, and not to consumers. If you buy as a consumer anyway, any mandatory consumer rights you have under the law of your country still apply, and nothing in these terms limits them.
2. Services
CodeBetter provides three services, all built on our own scanning and remediation software:
- Free Scan: an automated accessibility scan (axe-core, plus a scripted keyboard and contrast pass) of up to 10 pages of a site you provide, delivered as a written report.
- Fix Sprint: a fixed price, one time remediation run. Our remediation software makes code level changes to your site for the issues the scan finds, a person reviews every change, and you receive the changes on a branch or pull request with a before and after proof page.
- Watch: a monthly subscription that re-scans a site with a completed Fix Sprint baseline, fixes drift, and sends a short report.
3. No guarantee of legal compliance
CodeBetter does not guarantee that your site is, or will remain, legally compliant with the European Accessibility Act, WCAG, or any other law or regulation. Nobody can legitimately make that guarantee: compliance is decided by courts and regulators, not by a vendor. What we commit to is conformance work against WCAG 2.2 AA as understood at the time of delivery, documented with a before and after scan, and reviewed by a human. We are not a law firm and do not provide legal advice.
Our scan reports, snapshots, proof pages, emails and this website may mention laws, regulators, fines or court cases. That is general background information, current as of the date shown, not legal advice about your business and not a certificate of conformance. A clean automated scan does not mean a site has no accessibility barriers. For advice on your legal position, ask a lawyer in your market.
4. Scope of work and exclusions
A Fix Sprint addresses the issues identified by our scan and human review, within the scope agreed before work starts. It does not include:
- Fixes to third party widgets or embeds where we do not have source access
- Ongoing monitoring after delivery (that is what Watch is for)
- Content, tone, or structural decisions unrelated to accessibility
- Deployment to your production environment, unless separately agreed in writing
- Legal review or certification of any kind
5. Your responsibilities
To deliver a Fix Sprint or run Watch, we need you to:
- Provide access to a codebase, theme, or branch we can safely work in
- Respond to scoping questions and review requests in a reasonable time
- Review and merge or deploy the delivered branch yourself, or ask us in writing if you want us to
6. Payment
Fix Sprint is billed as a one time payment when work is scheduled to start. Watch is billed monthly in advance and renews automatically until cancelled. Prices quoted are in EUR and exclude any VAT or local tax that applies to you.
Online orders are processed by our reseller Paddle.com, which is the merchant of record for all online orders. Paddle handles payment, VAT (including the reverse charge for a valid EU VAT ID), invoicing and payment related customer service, and its buyer terms apply to the purchase. Orders placed by email before online checkout is available are invoiced by us directly.
7. Refunds
- Free Scan has no payment, so no refund applies.
- Fix Sprint: a full refund is available if work has not yet started. Once work has started, if the delivered branch does not match the agreed scope, we will fix it at no extra charge rather than issue a partial refund. We do not offer refunds for change of mind after delivery has been accepted.
- Watch: billed monthly in advance, cancel any time to stop future charges. We do not refund the current billing period once it has started.
The full policy, including the 30 day regression guarantee, is on the Refunds and guarantee page.
The 30 day regression guarantee
If an issue we fixed comes back within 30 days, we fix it again for free.
- Covers every issue listed as fixed on your proof page, whatever caused it to come back.
- Runs for 30 days from the day we deliver the branch, once you have merged it.
- Tell us by email; we re-fix on a new branch within 5 working days.
- Does not cover new pages or components added after delivery (that is what Watch is for), or third party code we have no access to.
8. Intellectual property
Once a Fix Sprint is paid in full, you own the code changes delivered to you. We retain no ownership claim over your site or your content. We may keep an internal, anonymized copy of scan results for quality and pricing purposes.
9. Confidentiality
We treat any non-public access you grant us (codebases, credentials, internal documents) as confidential, and use it only to deliver the service you purchased. We do not share your codebase or scan results with anyone outside CodeBetter without your permission.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, CodeBetter’s total liability for any claim arising from these services is limited to the amount you paid for the specific service giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost revenue, arising from your use of our services.
These limits do not apply where the law does not allow liability to be limited or excluded, for example for intent or gross negligence, fraud, or injury to life, body or health. Fines, penalties, legal costs or settlements arising from a complaint about your site are not damages caused by our services, because whether and how a law is enforced against you depends on your site as a whole and is outside our control.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Emirate of Dubai and the federal laws of the United Arab Emirates.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. For an active Watch subscription we email you at least 30 days before a material change takes effect, and you can cancel before then. Otherwise, continuing to use our services after a change means you accept the update. A Fix Sprint already agreed stays under the terms that applied when it was agreed.
